Post-Trans- and Metahumanist Reflections and Contemporary Challenges”, having the Department of Cultural Technology of the University of the Aegean as the main organizer, and bringing together academics, researchers and creators from all over the world. The focus of the discussion and analysis was Posthumanism, in relation to a set of social, political and philosophical approaches that were analyzed throughout the conference. A key part of the organization was the creation of an art exhibition, with participants from Lesbos and the rest of Greece, entitled: Post(humanities). The exhibition focused on the elements of respect for nature and the environment that hosts each of us, ecological consciousness, and approaching concepts related to the very meaning of existence. At the same time, it examines the concept of the body by focusing on the posthumanist body, redefining it and creating new questions, which abolish stereotypes and established perceptions of the "human" and every other being, both in its "natural" and artificial version (new technologies, Artificial Intelligence). The purpose of the conference is the expansion of scientific research and discussion around the interaction between humans and technology at all levels, especially after the new challenges of the post-pandemic and economic-ethical crisis at an international level. In the context of the post-pandemic era that has emerged, new challenges are emerging: The challenge of the local versus the global with local characteristics (glocal). New concepts are introduced such as "loglocal" (international local) and other terms with an untested Greek translation. Additionally, terms with negative content such as Trash-human Unhancement (Jaime del Val) as the reality behind what is known as Transhuman Enhancement (genetic superhuman "enhancement"). Questions are also raised about the new concept of morality and well-being, as well-being in contemporary society refers only to the material and physical level, with its meaning having shrunk to a highly materialistic conception related to patterns of consumerism, versus well-being in ancient Greek philosophy (Plato, Aristotle, Epictetus) which offers a new meaning completely different and much broader than "a lifestyle" connected to a broader anthropocentric conception of the self, based on "beyond from the self" and "Beyond Humanism", an approach that underpins many artistic practices and today's art theory, science theory, and new philosophical fields. The results of the research, presentations and discussions at the conference will be published in a special collective volume and in two scientific journals (Journal of Posthuman Studies: Philosophy, Technology, Media and Journal of Posthumanism). The conference will be accompanied by workshops and artistic actions and exhibitions. The Black Mirror of Digitality, a volume edited by Despina Catapoti, Assistant Professor of the Department of Cultural Technology and Communication, University of the Aegean people of different background (academic, artistic and journalistic) contribute chapters with the aim of investigating whether (and tto what extent) a science fiction series can shed light on unknown or unseen aspects of 21st century technoculture. How does contact with a story "out of reality" work for the viewer, given that at the same time it appears too "familiar"? In the popular series Black Mirror, which began airing on British television in 2011, the multiple aspects of the digital phenomenon are highlighted and in this way, a deeper reflection is cultivated around the question: Are we now ready to revise (or even abandon) entrenched views and interpretations concerning life in the 21st century? After all, as mentioned in one of the series' trailers, the future "is broken", the future "is now".

Prof. Yiannis Kolokotronis
The Heritage of European Modernism
The multiple aspects of the early 20th century crisis brought forth the variety of modernist movements aiming at breaking all bonds with tradition and questioning the future of humanity. The synchronization of art with the data of technology and economy, was the groundbreaking cut in the aesthetic experience of the 19th century. Modernism not only changed the data of art but made the world run faster to its encounter with the future. After the war, several were the movements in art that used the prefix "new" thus proving the continuity and expansion of the boundaries that modernism pursued.
Dr Yiannis Kolokotronis is Professor of Modern and Contemporary Art History at the University of Thrace – Department of Architecture and Engineering
